Symantec 計畫出價 46.5 億美元收購競爭對手 Blue Coat，力谷企業網絡保安業務。完成合併後，Blue Coat CEO Greg Clark 將出任 Symantec CEO，填補空缺上任 CEO Michael Brown 在今年 4 月發表不濟業績後請辭懸空的位置，他同時還加入董事會。
同時擁有消費者保安產品和企業資訊安全業務 Symantec，看中 Blue Coat 的企業網絡關閘保安產品，可望提升技術水平和市場佔有率。預計交易今年第三季度完成，之後 Symantec 收入增至 44 億美元，其中近三分之二來自企業保安業務。合併後，該公司將有超過 3,000 個工程師團隊，成為業內資訊安全巨頭，有更強的研發和保安資源。
Symantec 財務總監 Thomas Seifert 稱，早已看上 Blue Coat，不過待完成分拆儲存和備份數據部門 Veritas 才提出收購。事實上，控股 Blue Coat 的 Bain Capital LLC 有意安排公司上市，現改為出售。
